Ghor, Afghanistan

Western Afghanistan

Ghor

Remote highland roads and the 12th-century Minaret of Jam.

Province Overview

Overview

Ghor is not a city-break.

The Minaret of Jam stands about 65 meters above a river gorge — Ghurid brickwork from the late 12th century, still standing in a place that takes a serious 4WD day to reach.

Villages along the Hari Rud keep their own schedule. This is a seasonal expedition, not a standard featured-tour add-on.
